Zambia Under-20 winger Enock Mwepu says they are ready for the 2017 under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mwepu and his Zambia teammates wrapped up their international friendly fixture last Sunday with a 2-1 home win at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka over fellow Under-20 Afcon finalists South Africa.
“We have prepared adequately for the tournament. We will deliver for mother Zambia,” Mwepu said.
“We thank the administrators and coaches for the tremendous work they are putting into the team.”
Mwepu also scored one of Zambia’s two goals against Amajita after heading-in the opener in the 27th minute.
“We thank God for the victory. It was not easy, as you know that South Africa are Zambia’s archrivals,” Mwepu said.
Zambia had prior to the friendly spent a fortnight in Spain where they held a training camp from January 25 to February 7.
While in Spain, Zambia played training matches against second division side Tenerife’s junior side plus the youth teams of Barcelona and Swiss club Basel.
Zambia are in Group A and will face Mali, Guinea and Egypt.
Coach Beston Chambeshi side will kick-off their campaign on February 26 against Guinea at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka where the team will be based.
