Heartland head coach, Ramson Madu has described as spoilers the oriental neighbours, Abia Comets.

The Naze Millionaires benched the Umuahia side 1-0 in Sunday’s Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) matchday 23 oriental derby at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Striker, Moses Akande’s 89th minute goal handed the Owerri side the three points in a hotly contested clash.

Madu said Abia Comets proved themselves a stubborn side than the one his side beat 3-1 right there at their backyard in Umuahia.

“Well, that’s football you cannot accurately predict its outcome the same side we beat at their home but today (Sunday) played an entirely different game but we thanked God we got the crucial three points.

“I think my players were at their very best despite the slim score line I must give them kudos for good performance.

“Abia Comets are spoilers they came here mainly to spoil our game and nothing else with their approach to the match.

“Of course, you know it’s not easy being at the top of the log as you become the team everybody wants to beat.

“We are happy staying on top and we will fight hard to stay there till the end of the league season.

“The race for promotion continues as we will be heading to Calabar next weekend to confront Unicem Rovers,” said Madu to supersport.com.

The hard fought victory against Abia Comets keeps Heartland at the summit of 18-team NNL southern conference on 48 points.
