1978 African Footballer of the Year Abdul Razak has submitted his application to be the new coach of the Black Stars.

According to several media reports in Ghana, the former Kotoko coach, nicknamed the Golden Boy, wants to succeed Avram Grant. A fearsome midfielder in his day, Razak has never been shy of putting his name forward for top jobs.

He has previously coached Stade Malien, several Togolese clubs and had stints in Benin. It is not clear what philosophy or style his application promises for the Black Stars, but he will be the first coach of Ghanaian extraction to go for the job.

Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie had said just days ago that of the 60 applications received, noen were Ghanaian.

The Stars job became vacant since Avram Grant resigned from his post after failing to win the Afcon in Gabon, only reaching the semi.
