Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers have been rocked by the news that two of their most trusted stalwarts, Orji Okogbue and Obinna Nwobodo, will miss Sunday’s Caf Champions League game against Zamalek.

The duo are suspended following successive bookings picked up in Rangers’ last two Champions League matches, against Algerian side JS Saoura and Zamalek, in the preliminary and first rounds of the competition respectively.

They will now sit out the decisive second leg, first round clash against last year’s beaten finalists, Zamalek, in Enugu.

Head coach of Rangers Imama Amapakabo admits both players are important but still fancies his side’s chances against the five-time champions.

“I trust every member of my squad so suspensions will not be used as an excuse (for potential failure).

“Rangers will qualify for the group stage of this year’s Caf Champions League and I don’t have any doubts about it.

“I know what we have to do to achieve this and hopefully all our hard work bears fruit on Sunday,” he told supersport.com.

The game between Rangers and Zamalek will be played on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
